The Arachna-Zombies are an unnatural phenomenon, a scourge on the land. They are relentless, vile creatures with corrosive saliva and a hunger for flesh. They dwell in caves and work as one under the control of the Queen. They possess the ability to weave intricate webs, which are often invisible to the naked eye, ensnaring animals of all sizes, and including the humans native to these lands. The tribes refer to these creatures as the ‘Shinikumo’, translating to ‘Dead Spiders’. In recent years, the Arachna-Zombies have spread into new territories, sometimes creeping into villages, and they are feeding on humans as they sleep.
In the distant past, they were spiders that dwelled in underground caves, feeding on small bats and rodents. It is believed that somewhere in the past, the spiders were exposed to some type of mutagen. This chemical changed the function of the mitochondria (normal power cells) to produce energy in a totally different way. This allowed them to grow larger and gain unnatural lifespans, making them a dominant predator. It also caused their bodies to decay and decreased their brain function, making them primal and instinctual.
